I have the blue Avast ball icon on my desktop now, but when I right-click it, I do not get “About avast!, or in the simple interface choose MENU → ABOUT AVAST!,” as the initial e-mail assured me I would.
I get Open, Run As, Scan, WinZip, Unpin from Start menu, Send to, Cut, Copy, Create Shortcut, Delete, Rename, and Properties. None of which give the option of entering my key code.
Help! What am I supposed to do, how am I supposed to go to the next step and register the product if the instructions are wrong?
I think the symbol you are rightclicking on is the avast-quick-start button in the taskbar, but you need to rightclick the icon in the right lower corner of your desktop…
Have you already rebooted your PC after installing avast?
Did you use any other antivirus program previously?
Oh! Thank you–I was right-clicking on the Avast icon on my desktop, not on the one in the toolbar at the bottom of my screen (the instructions really should be more specific, for not-terribly-bright people like myself!). I will try that, now, and see what happens.
