Rinstall (virus problem)

Hi,
My friend downloaded Avast free edition 6 months ago, on his laptop, but didn’t renew subscription.
Now he end up with plenty viruses, which we succeeded to remove with on-line scan.
I tried to reinstall Avast, but it cannot be reinstalled.

Actually, uninstall application from Control panel appear only for few seconds.
I downloaded ““uninstall”” tools from Avast web. It doesn’t work.

Downloaded new avast free 5,0, but couldn’t install it.
I want to point out that after getting rid of viruses some other application like task manager and registry do not open.
Is it some way, we can reinstall Avast free??

Are you absolutely sure you are clean?

Check your computer for Malware with

Have you tried Malwarebytes Antimalware http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
after install click UPDATE and run cuick scan, click on REMOVE SELECTED to quarantine anything found

Simply saying it cannot be reinstalled or doesn’t work, doesn’t actually help.

What did you do, what happened, what errors were displayed, etc. ?

You may not be completely clear of the virus infection or it has done damage to the system.
If you haven’t already got this software suggested by Pondus (freeware), download, install, update and run it and report the findings (it should product a log file).

Don’t worry about reported tracking cookies they are a minor issue and not one of security, allow SAS to deal with them though. - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTP_cookie.
