okay the story is simple, I subscribed to a trial of Norton 360 a few weeks ago (I actually don’t even remember exactly when ) and uninstalled almost straight away after the install. I just wasn’t interested. Now the trial has expired and I couldn’t care less. And the guys send me this. I know that’s an automated mail, but still the intention is there, scare the user, using rogue-like methods. Just like as if you don’t buy it , there’s of course no other way to have a protected system. This kind of mail can be very misleading for newbies :
It looks much like many such emails I have seen in the past for many years. Most companies of that sort try to impress you that without their product (whatever that product is) your life is much less than it should be. It is an old tactic.
I think Pondus has the best answer … though I might add “Avast protects my computer much better.”
It is a sign of advanced age when one start to criticize both the younger and the older generations ;D. I only had one experience with Symantec at work with their certification ordeal they once had to swear to never approach any computer with that av-solution on it, but I like their detection online at Norton Safe Web and go there often to check out,
