Just got this installed on my Galaxy Nexus. Very pleased with it overall, but I have a couple of concerns regarding the rooted install.
As you probably know, root users allow superuser permission via the superuser app. If I do a factory reset of my phone, the superuser app forgets it’s “allow” list.
So… assuming my phone is stolen, and the thief performs a factory reset… when he boots into my phone, presumably the Anti-Theft app will kick in. Does this mean the thief is going to see a box on the screen asking if is allowed root access?
Or is it only the configuration app that runs as superuser? I.e. all the passive functions of Anti-Theft will run without triggering an SU request?
Second concern is similar… is it ok to remove the Anti-Theft app (whatever we’ve named it) from the superuser list once configured? Just for that extra bit of added invisibility.
If you’re talking about avast! Anti-Theft (this is Theft Aware subforum), I think the app needs superuser rights each time.
It’s not only while being configurated.
It does say Anti Theft on the forum title. And all of the posts seem to be Anti-Theft related. And theft-aware is deprecated.
:-\
I’m fairly sure it won’t need the superuser each time, as that would defeat the purpose of it being hidden. And anti-theft runs on non-rooted installs too (just can’t be uninstalled). Just wanted confirmation really.
Thanks Werner.
So, why we see “updated” superuser access messages in normal operation of avast! Mobile Security, I mean, the disguised app seems to have acquiring superuser rights each day for me…
