Rootkit found, Avast is acting suspiciously

Avast popped up telling me it found a rootkit, asked me if I wanted to delete it so I deleted it. It then rebooted my computer to run a boot scan and said it found nothing. I wasn’t running a scan at the time and the scan logs I do have never show a rootkit being found. What’s going on? Is there a place I can check to see if Avast did delete the rootkit?

Can you go to Avast chest and take the image what exactly is detected?

I wasn't running a scan at the time
avast does a rootkit scan 8min after boot....

if it was deleted (not moved to chest) i guess it is empty

there is, but cant remember where it is located
i will PM one that knows, but it may take some time before he is online…

but somone else may know and post it…

Check out:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\AVAST Software\Avast\log\aswAr.log, XP location.
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log\aswAr.log, Vista and later OSes. This location will probably be hidden (need to view hidden files and folders in the Windows Explorer - Folder settings) and or require permissions to access the ProgramData folder and sub-folders.
