does avast detect them in a boot time scan?
Hey treker96mk2, check out this thread:
okay i wasnt sure if the rootkits simply told windows to hide them. and that when windows was not fully active the files woud be visible.
AVG just came out with a free stand alone anti rootkit, but I haven’t tried it.

I just tried it. No conflicts with avast; works fine too. Thanks for the link marc57.

Just came out… well, it was on beta quite a long time…
It works ok. Simple and easy interface. Not that many info and ‘false positives’.
Panda antirootkit has a very good updater.
