ROTTR.exe

So I was doing a system scan today and the file ROTTR.exe (which is the steam launcher for the game Rise of the Tomb Raider) was marked as a virus. I checked to see if the file was in some way modified, but alas, it is the original file. It might be that the file has an anti-cheating system of sorts and that gets flagged as a virus, but I wanted to make you all know that this is a legitimate game and it is happening to both free and paid users of the Avast! antivirus.

Any clarification or suggestions over there or here would be great. I placed it as an exception temporarily, but if that file happens to get infected in the future that can cause a big problem for me or others that do the same as well.

You can report a suspected FP here: https://www.avast.com/false-positive-file-form.php

Upload and check file at www.virustotal.com if scanned before, always click rescan for a fresh result

post link to scan result here (not copy paste)

That file can’t be uploaded, the file is 88 MB.

Virustotal.com take 128mb

metadefender.com take 140mb

This is the analysis:

So Avast and BKAV are the only ones that detect it as a virus.
