Roundcubemail and Avast 2015 Free Antivirus for Mac

I have a Mac Mini server running Yosemite (10.10.1) and OS Server v4.0. I installed Roundcubemail Webmail Software without any problem and was working fine as expected. After I installed Avast 2015 Free Antivirus for Mac on my server, Roundcubemail started behaving differently. Attachments in the emails had 0 (zero) byte regardless the type of the file attached… When I browsed my emails using Apple’s Mail client I noticed that all the attachments were intact. To test my theory, I removed the Avast Antivirus software and everything was back to normal.

Could someone shed a light on the strange behaviour of Avast Antivirus? why Avast is removing the attachments when someone is accessing emails via Roundcubemail Webmail?

As far as I know, Roundcube fetches mails using IMAP/POP3 so it is just
another mail client for the Avast mailshield. Avast removes the content of
the attachment when it is infected, so you get exactly what you
describe - attachments with 0 byte size. By default there are also two
mail headers added to the infected mail.

To find out what’s wrong (why are all attachements handled as infected in
your case) we would need a little bit more info, otherwise there is nothing
we can do about it. The minimum is the system log file. Also some
affected mail would be useful.
