My avast premier states my router has been hijacked and suggests I change my DNS to 8.8.8.8
The problem is I have been using OPENDNS for a long time so I am not sure how my router would have been hijacked.
All the solutions I have found state change to a DNS program and I already am using one. Any ideas?

Your router DNS settings and a application that you use on your system are two different things.
Login to the router and change the DNS settings there.

Thanks for the reply. My router settings had already been changed. They have been like this since I started using open DNS.

you could try updating your router firmware. I used to get router hijacked warnings after a network scan till i updated my routers firmware.
