I’ve been having endless problems with avast hope someone can help me.
My Avast keeps giving me an error when it refuses to start up it says
avast: The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error
42040=VPS file was detected
Whatever is happening my antivirus stops working period. When i’ve tried to update Avast it updates and works perfectly well for like a day then the following day it stops working and start giving me the above error messages. i don’t know what else to do!!!
Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair). You must be connected to the internet while repairing.
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?
Do you have any other antivirus installed in your computer?
Did you have in the past? Which one?
Do you use a firewall? Which one?
Also, take a look into Administrative Tools > Services
and see how the four avast services are set to start (automatically or manual).
Also, check your system time and date and if your registration is still valid (14 months).
i tried the repair option and it didn’t work when i tried it. i’ve had norton on before then i removed it. then avg briefly also removed it. they where both highly useless antiviruses.
I’ve also gone to services and checked if they automatically start and they all do. i’ve even stopped and restarted them to no avail.
i’ve been avoiding uninstalling avast. but it seems i might have to try that out.
i’ve used the Norton removal tool and my avast is working at the moment. now only time will tell. it may just stop working on me again. if it does i will shout.
it worked only for a few days then it hung up on me. it stopped working again… mmm… i’m running out of ideas? anyone got any ideas? its still giving me the same errors as mentioned above
i uninstalled it and rebooted it. then reloaded it. it still packed up on me after about 4 times of normal starting up of my pc. i’m not sure wats wrong… maybe there is something avast doesn’t agree with in my operating system. i’ll try again this afternoon… but i’m not too hopeful
i did use the removal tool and i’ve tried all i can. reload avast more times than once but the error persists. its the same error the messages named above that are occuring. Are there any XP that i may need in order to run the antivirus…
