RPC error every other day

When I turn on my computer with Windows XP. Every other day the Advast icon at the bottom right indicated that I have RPC error. At first I can restart my computer and it will be fine again. Lately I have to uninstall and install Avast. Tonight I tried to repair it and is fine for now. Is there any way to cure the problem? I have Spybot install in my computer.

I suggest you check Windows Event Viewer to see whats causing the problem.

The System under Windows Event Viewer shown the Avast Antivirius hung on starting.
The antivirus under Windows Event Viewer shown AAVM: VPS load failed trying to get a fresh copy.
What should I do to correct this problem? Thanks!

Did you have another av on your computer before avast? If so, which one? Leftovers from another av can cause conflicts. Most av’s have some type of removal tool to get rid of leftovers.

Do you have another av along with avast? Two av’s will conflict. Use only one av!

Yes, I have NOD32 before. The installer is still in the program files but is inactive. I have not install or run it. I deleted it just now but I still have error. It froze.
I have another error message. It indicated that the AV is scanning the ESENT files and the computer froze. Do I need to reset Avast?

See if the following link is of any help to you in removing Nod32:
