RPC error when re-registering

I am trying to renew my subscription to avast!'s free edition. After entering my email address at the registration step, the error message “The AAVM subsystem detected a RPC error.” What does this mean?

This often indicate that you have more then one antivirus installed, or leftover files from previous used AV … do you?

I have Malwarebytes anti-malware installed. I never had an issue with this in the past … Do I need to uninstall Malwarebytes to continue to use Avast?

NO ... Malwarebytes is not a antivirus and should work fine with avast

I am not sure why I should run download and run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool; the issue I am having is with registering Avast.

Can I get Avast activated by uninstalling and then installing a newly-downloaded version of the .exe file?

Pls try repair option in uninstall avast!.Then reboot system twice and see if problem is gone:)

How do I get to the repair option? I am running Windows 8 64-bit operating system.

Control Panel > Programs and Features > avast antivirus - Change - from the next screen select Repair and OK your way back out.

I ran the repair, but I still cannot get Avast background service to run. Each time I click on Start now, I continue to get the message “Avast background service is not running,” which I believe is the root of the issue.

Then perform avast! cleaner:http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avastclear.exe
And then Follow instructions.
