Guys, I looked over the steps to take from Bob’s post, and for me, not being tech savvy, it’s a bit daunting. Is there no easier way to uninstall, if I need to ? I see there is an uninstall button on the ‘repair’ page. Isn’t that the way to go ? Or are those uninstall steps the same as Bob’s post ?

The uninstall button is the first part of the clean install. Simply follow the directions. They are laid out step by step.

Download Avast Uninstall Utility (http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility) to your Desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast from the links below or from the Avast site: https://www.avast.com/download-software

Do I have to download the Uninstall utility and the current version of Avast Premier again ? Or just click on the ‘uninstall’ button on the ‘repair’ page ?

You need to do all the steps to do a clean install.

Guys, so far, so good (knock on wood). I’ve been on the computer, several times now, and have not had that ‘reboot’ issue. I’m hoping that doing the chkdsk and registry repair, as well as the Avast repair, has cleared up the original problem. What that was, I don’t know, but for now, it seems stable. Thanks so much for your continued help and advice…
