rsa64.dll infection

Each time my computer reboots I get a message saying rsa64.dll is infected. The process is C:\Windows\Explorer (see attached screen shot). I also captured what is in the quarantine (virus vault) as well as a capture of the version of Avast I’m using. It seams that Avast sticks the file in the virus vault, which is good, but after that it seems no program is having any luck at finding and dealing with the program the reinfects the computer during a reboot.

I have followed the guide and have run Malwarebytes Anti Malware and have attached a copy of the log.

I also ran OTL as recommended and have attached the OTL.txt.

Here is the EXTRAS.txt file.

While posting Avast just stopped a different file from running. I’ve attached a copy of what is in the quarantine virus chest. I missed getting a screen capture of the message from Avast.

Hi, remover notified.

I ran aswMBR and have attached the log file.

I see you have run combofix, could you attach the log please

I’ll look for the file. But the machine has been doing an Avast boot scan of the hard drive all day. When it completes I’ll look for the file.

Attached is ComboFix log file.

On completion of this run let me know if the alerts cease

Warning This fix is only relevant for this system and no other, using on another computer may cause problems

Be advised that when the fix commences it will shut down all running processes and you may lose the desktop and icons, they will return on reboot

Run OTL

[*]Under the Custom Scans/Fixes box at the bottom, paste in the following

:Files
c:\programdata\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA64

:Commands
[resethosts]
[emptytemp]
[Reboot]

[*]Then click the Run Fix button at the top
[*]Let the program run unhindered, reboot the PC when it is done
[*]Open OTL again and click the Quick Scan button. Post the log it produces in your next reply.

Haven’t seen the pop-ups so far so good. I have also attached the OTL.txt file after running the OTL clean using script info you provided, reboot, then Quickscan with default settings.

Thanks,
Dave

Could you monitor it for a day and then let me know if all is well I will then tidy up

Will do. Thanks for the help.

Been running for over a day with no popups from Avast. I think the problem is fixed.

Thanks again for all the help.
Dave

In that case methinks I will send you on your merry way

Subject to no further problems

I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean

A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

: Keep Java Updated :

WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article and this article.
I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:

CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware
