Trend Micro has started to beta test an anti-botnet tool that should detect traffic specific for Windows machines that have been compromised. RUBotted listens for C&C server commands to let machines send spam or a DOS attack. The program checks all incoming HTTP and IRC requests, monitors incoming HTTP traffic and IRC requests, monitors outgoing SMTP traffic, DNS queries and warns when a bot has been detected. It can run aside your normal av-program. Download while it is still free: http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/rubotted
I don’t test a falsefreeware/futureshareware for free.
I test, i report bugs, i crash my system because product has got dangerous bugs and, when the product is bug free, then i must purchase it, LOL.
I only test for free “real” freeware products.
Well, from what I remember the total size of this program was between 4mbs/5mbs. I tried to use the program. It downloaded to the pc alright, but then froze up when trying to install. I had other defenses disabled when doing this. I uninstalled this program.
Class, may I have your attention.
Write it out 100 times - and I do mean write, you know with a biro, pen, pencil! (You do remember them, don’t you?) none of this cutting and pasting stuff!

I don’t think it has being confirmed that it will be shareware. Sure one blogger thought so, but he was speculating (and by arguing with wrong analogies).
Trend is not unknown to provide freeware for particularly simple products…
