I am using Avast Internet Security 2015 10.0.2208 with Win 7 SP 1. Since updating to 2015, setting Opera to always run in sandbox does not survive a restart of Windows. I’ve used the Right Click | “Always run in sandbox” as well as going to AvastUI | Settings | Tools | Sandbox | Customize then clicking on Virtualized processes and navigating to the Opera.exe file and saving out.
Nothing is saved after reboot. I’ve repaired AIS on both machines to no avail. I’ve done a clean uninstall and reinstall of AIS on the Lenovo ThinkPad, but it didn’t correct the problem. I have both 32 and 64 bit versions of Opera 12.17 (the latest and perhaps the last for the Presto release) installed.
Yes, on the I7 Toshiba. No, on the AMD Lenovo. The sandbox works on both machines, it just won’t save the setting on either machine. NG is not the issue on the saving.
Always run in sandbox still does not persist after a Windows restart in AIS 2015 10.2.2214. This should be fixed. I’ve done Avast repairs and clean reinstalls to no avail on both machines.
Sorry Gopher John that I didn’t notice this topic earlier, but I wasn’t active here on the forum when you started the topic. That said : Do you know if Petr Kurtin was informed about this bug ?
EDIT : My statement was premature !
I tested it during Beta testing and it seemed not be fixed than. But now it is suddenly working for me.
It is a wild guess : But the only thing I can think of is that like me you use “Drop administrative rights …” in the Sandbox ?
Deselect that, and apply “Always run in the Sandbox” to your browsers.
Now reboot Windows, and see if that helps. You can also select “Drop administrative rights …” again.
I unchecked "Drop administrative rights, oked out of AvastUI, and restarted Windows. I then added Opera and Opera64 as the only programs to run in Avast sandbox. It worked until I restarted Windows. After restart, neither Opera was listed to always run in sandbox. It’s still not fixed for me.
It is a big mystery for me why it is suddenly working on both my systems now again.
The only thing that I have changed when the stable release came out, is that I started to test the AOS browser add-on again.
But I can’t imagine that has something to do with it.
Greetz, Red.
( The AOS browser add-on in combination with the Sandbox is whole different ( bug ) story btw. )
