rundll32 virus

hi,
I’ve got a virus on my computer that opens up internet explorer every few seconds and slows down the computer. I’ve done a little bit of looking into this and pinned it down to be a virus in the rundll32 part of the windows folder. i couldn’t find a solution though and it is not being picked up by the normal avast scanner or the avast virus remover.
can anyone give me a few tips to get rid of this one as i’m stuck for what to do now?

Try a boot time scan with avast! Right click the scanner screen, select ‘schedule a boot time scan’ and reboot when requested.

Try a scan with DrWeb CureIT!

Try the usual free adware/spyware scanners.

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware

Download, install and update the programs. Disconnect from the internet (pull the plug) before running scans in Safe Mode if possible.

Always select the option to quarantine any malware found rather than delete it, then you will be able to restore files or registry entries wrongly identified as malware- a rare but not unknown event for any malware scanner.

Try some online scans. (Disable avast! while scanning.)
