Running avast! as root in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex

Could someone tell me exactly how to run my avast! as root so that it can have access to all the files being listed in the report as “Permission Denied”? ::slight_smile: Thanks!!!

Don’t!

Just scan /home.

You could damage your system.

Be careful when you enter your root password and root will be fine. (In a year and a half of using Ubuntu, I haven’t actually come across a Linux virus, but just in case.)

sudo avastgui

Take care

I know that the chances are slim to none of having a virus in my Ubuntu, but I still run occasionally when I suspect that there’s the slightest chance of something. ::slight_smile: So far nothing, and I’m confident that’s the way it will continue to be. Thanks for the reply! ;D

You’re welcome. Feel free to come back any time you need help or just to change experiences 8)
