Well out of total and final disguest with Vista I have installed a 2nd partition for XP PRO
Ok so here is my Question, I’ve installed Avast to both partitions to run seperately depending on which one I open. Do I use my original Key for both ??? , or should I get seperate keys for each operating system? I know Avast only licence’s to 1 computer but it is 1 computer
I’ve reposted this again as I posted in the wrong forum topic.
Thanks Guys, I’m using Avast Home But the other question is will it repeat the updates on each OS when I open one or the other if I use the same key? Most likely I will be on the XP Pro side most of the time, But there may be an occasion I might need to use the Vista for config’s I couldn’t find the drivers for on XP pro. I got the idea to split the OS when I went to the apple store out of final desperation to get XP Pro, The new mac’s use 2 partitions one with the drivers pre-installed for Windows, but the mac side doesn’t require anti-virus programs. I’m using my Original puter that came with Vista so I would need to be protected on both sides.
There is avast for Mac

Will it update automaticly when I open it one or the other or will I need to manually update the one I’m not using (vista) most of the time? If I’m not using vista and the key updates on XP PRO automaticly with it recognize that vista side needs to be duplicated? This vista is driving me to :'(.
“There is avast for Mac ;)”
Well not according to the Mac sales people :-X But that’s their claim to fame. Didn’t buy the mac just to expensive to change everything to mac to use XP. Especially when I have a brand new (2 months old) XPS 1530 loaded with high end everything. Well wish me luck, I’d rather be missing some features than have to deal with Vista.
Hope this didn’t duplicate, I timed out while typing.
When you boot Vista, the avast installed in Vista will be updated.
When you boot XP, the XP installation will be updated.
I suppose you’re talking that you have the two operational system in the same computer.
If you’re talking of two different computer, when you start one it will be updated, when you start the other, it will be updated.
Thanks a ton :-* Yip I’m using 1 puter, Dell advised me not to uninstall the Vista so I bought a new Hard Drive, split it with 2 partitions for each OS. Seems to be working so I’m a happy camper without having to buy another lap.
You’re welcome.
I’ve used to have a dual boot system (Vista + Kubuntu Linux), but I needed more space in my Windows partitions and now Linux is only in an USB HDD that I connect and boot when I need some spare time to play with it
