Running avast on winxp recovery console

I suspect that my computer is infected with a virus. I can not boot it anymore. Can I install avast and run using the winxp recovery console? if yes how?

I don’t think so… avast! must be run from within Windows.
There’s avast! BART CD which might be able to help you with your problem, but it’s quite an expensive tool.

What exactly happens when you try to boot the computer? Did you install/update anything before the problem appeared?

Why?
Won’t you change the licensing policy? ::slight_smile:

Huh???

If you had a money making product why on earth would you want to lower its price?

I do not recall that Alwil aimed to be a “not for profit” concern.

Right now, it’s meant as a tool for system administrators or servicemen; and the price is set accordingly. If the target is reconsidered, the price may change as well.
(But don’t expect it to be for free ;D - there’s a fee to Microsoft for every copy, because it’s based on WinPE.)

Do you mean there is an avast plugin for WinPE?
Or just the license of Home/Pro could be used into that environment?

Well… it’s a matter of market target. In fact, Bart CD is too expensive compared with Norton Rescue CD that the home user could get when buying the Premium Edition of Norton SystemWorks, for instance.

Windows PE is a version of MS Windows… and if you want to distribute it (along with your tools), you have to pay for that, of course.

But, is there an avast plugin for it?

I’m afraid the question doesn’t make much sense to me. Maybe you are talking about Bart Lagerweij CD, where the supplied applications are usually called “plugins”?

Sorry, I should be clearer… Yeah, I mean Bart Lagerweij CD (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/).
Is there a plugin for it?

No, I don’t think so.
