Previously I had Sophos installed and had zero problems on Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Installed Avast as I have used it for several years on Windows 7 with great satisfaction.
Please fix and release an update.
You must give us a little bit more info, otherwise there is nothing we can do with the issue…
