Can I still be helped?
Hmmm… Let’s see, please be patient.
Do you have a windows 7 disc ? As that has a recovery console built in. If not I can give instructions on how to create one
No I do not have that misplaced disc, sorry.
How can I create one?
Download the following three programmes to your desktop :
For 64bit systems
2. Windows 7 64bit RC (I will PM the link)
3. Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64
Insert the USB stick Then run Rufus

Select the ISO file on the desktop via the ISO icon.
Press Start Burn

Then copy FRST to the same USB

Insert the USB into the sick computer and start the computer. First ensuring that the system is set to boot from USB
Note: If you are not sure how to do that follow the instructions Here

Press Scan button.
It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please copy and paste it to your reply.
I’ve attached the FRST text file.
Did you update windows just prior to this ?
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion try a normal boot
Normal boot (with flash drive plugged in and also not) only got to the “Starting Windows” message and hangs.
I’m sorry I can’t recall if I did an update on windows.
OK next shot
Download the attached fixlist.txt to the same location as FRST
Run FRST and press Fix
On completion try a normal boot
Still hangs on logo.
Using the recovery console could you select startup repair and run that three times
First repair is 2 hours in and still going:(
Do I let it continue?
That does seem a bit excessive
Is it actually doing anything or is the hard drive quiet
You’re right, it is a bit quiet…didn’t notice coz it was quiet:) It’s been 3 hours now.
essexboy, I have access again after 3 repairs!!!
That first one went for at least 3 hours as I left it for longer.
Thank you.
Glad about that, although three hours is the longest I have recorded to date
