Safe to remove Avast Hub?

I have uninstalled Avast and the other associated apps using he Avast uninstaller. I was able to remove plist files manually. However, I still find Avast Hub files in Application Support.

Can I safely delete these files?

What do you mean “hub files”?

There may be other files, but after removing the Avast and the VPN apps (using their uninstaller) I was surprised to find a variety of files remaining. In fact it was an Etre check that revealed the to me. I found the files in my library.

Two sets that I found so far…not sure where others may be.

One set of Avast files is in the CACHES folder…a variety of files.

The other is in the APPLICATION SUPPORT folder…again a variety of files, including “Hub” files and scan logs.

Try cleaning these files with CCleaner. https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

I still have no idea what you mean by “hub files”. ???

If I were to change the topic heading to read…“Is it safe to remove Avast files?”…perhaps that would clear up my my query.

I attempted to uninstall Avast products using their software (uninstallers). I was successful in removing the Avast applications, but there remain some files in my library. These files are found in the CACHES folder and APPLICATION SUPPORT folder.

The files have names, which make no particular sense to me, including HUB and SCAN LOGS (among others). I listed these two simply as examples.

Bottom line, is it safe to remove files once associated with the now uninstalled AVAST apps?

I failed to mention this is on a MacBook Pro, not a PC.

I’m not sure modifying the topic title wouldn’t help, we still have insufficient information to understand what it is you are asking.

We don’t even know what avast version you have installed or had installed ?
At first in your initial post I though you were talking about Avast Mobile Security, but later posts seem to be for something else.

We don’t know what files remain or the location of those files ?

  1. Is this on a smartphone or a computer?
  2. Could you please post file path(s)?
  3. Which version of avast, v2015, v2016, etc.?
  4. Are you posting about the Free, Pro, AIS or Premier versions of avast?
  5. Why are/did you uninstall avast? If there was an issue we would be more than happy to assist you to resolve the issue(s).
  6. Any other security software installed?

As it is now you have not given us much to go on. Please help us so we can help you.

I am using a MacBook Pro. The Avast software was the free version of the anti malware software. I installed it at least a year or more ago. Somewhere along the time of using it I discovered another software from Avast had been installed not by me but just appeared. Some sort of VPN service.

I used the uninstallers to remove both.

The files left behind are found in user library, CACHES AND APPLICATION SUPPORT.

I do not want the Avast products on my devices.

The only other security software I have is a free version of Malwarebytes.

Thanks for the link. However, that is for doing the uninstall. I have already completed the uninstall. I have files associated with Avast (described above). I need to know about deleting these, safely.

Post/Ask in the Mac section, we can’t help you here.

Or you may well find another related topic there.

I’ll post in the Mac forums. The topic does not seem to be unique to Mac (files remaining after uninstall). Too bad the moderation does not allow for moving the post.

I did previously look in the Mac forum first but noticed the similar queries were all left unanswered.

Moderators can move topics, but that can take a bit of time before it is moved. Often it is quicker just to create a new topic.
