When I try to go into Safe Zone a notification comes up. " Safe Zone Browser cannot read or write to it’s directory, c:\sfzone_profile. What do I do to correct this?
- Which Avast…? (Pro/IS/Premier)
- Which version…?
- OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP…?)
- Other security related software installed…?
- Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
I have this same problem, which started today for the first time. I have Avast Internet Security and have had for a year or so, and free Avast before that. It is version 2015.10.2.2214. OS is Windows 7 professional. No other security related software except programs I open manually. I tried the “Repair” function but that did nothing.
I had deleted, or tried to delete, some files in a file directory on another drive than C: which used to be the save location for the clipboard used in safezone many months ago, but no longer is. This was created on Avast’s instructions back last year when a version of Avast ‘broke’ the save function and I had to reinstall.
After I get the Safezone Browser cannot read or write to its directory c:\sfzone_profile and click OK, I get another message " preferences can not be read. Some features may be unavailable and changes to preferences won’t be saved". After that i can open my web browser of choice in Safe Zone and everything appears to work. Its totally unclear what features of Safe Zone I have lost or if indeed I am operating in a “protected area” as designed. I would like to fix this, obviously. Would appreciate your help. I haven’t written to support yet, just came here first and searched for the problem.
- Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup.exe
- Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
- Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
- Reboot.
Thank you, fixed.
You’re welcome.
