SafeXP, use it for years now.....

Hi malware fighters,

Running an account on XP with full admin rights makes that your Internet activities can put you at risk for automatic malware installs etc… Creating an extra normal user account for your Internet activities on your computer diminishes those risks considerably, also installing XPSafe can make your accounts more secure by heaps: http://www.theorica.net/safexp.htm

I run it both at home and on the comp on the job for years now. Great proggie,

Why not just use DropYourRights ???

What settings should we choose to make XP safer?
Can you post a screenshot of your chooses?

I agree

I prefer dropmyrights as that can easily be applied to specific applications connecting to the internet. There are no decisions to be made other than deciding to use it or not.

Having just had a look at the saferxpscr.gif I would have to say your average user would be challenged as to what to have selected

That doesn't only apply to average users. ;D Which is why I suggested DropYourRights. :)

I have a home XP computer with no administrator (unless I am it), since it is only my husband and myself using the desktop and laptop. Do I need some thing like SafeXP or Dropmyrights to be safer?

RoRo ???

Yes, you’re using the admin account.
All XP computer has at least one account with admin rights.

It won’t be bad.

It is actually DropMyRights ;D

Hi SafeXP-users,

It is much easier as it seems at first sight there are desirable fixed settings, and with a restore point set before that, you can always go back to the settings before you installed SafeXP at all. No big deal, no big sweat - also for the inexperienced user. My sys admin at work pointed this program out to me, he installed it for me, I have it for a couple of years there on my XP Pro normal user account. At home I have on my admin account with Windows XP, surfing and mailing etc. are done through an additional normal user account, soi I have two accounts on one comp. The admin account is only for updating software, getting new window updates etc. and whenever for some reason I need full admin’s rights. You do not have to go to a course to work these things out, it is more of an attitude to make your computer more secure, yes that is what it basically is,

David,
I’ve already DroppedMyRights, it’s now time for those not protected to drop theirs. (Your) ;D
