Safezone browser icon on regular desktop

i posted this before and got a response but in addition to posting here, i contacted avast support and was told that it is normal to have a safezone icon on my desktop even if i am not in the safezone environment. I was given no explanation on why though. i spoke to two different reps. Can someone confirm this for me please. The icon just recently appeared after i had trouble loading the safezone environment one time, when it gave me a message that the safezone browser was not able to be launched.

Was this avast support (ie real avast staff), or iyogi? There’s a big difference.

I still think the desktop shortcut to chromium browser was (in my case at least - I can’t speak for yours) a bug.

The reason being that it didn’t go to safezone, it just went to a normal chromium (not google chrome) browser, in which I could happily install extensions, and which could run alongside other programs - ie it didn’t seem isolated from the desktop at all.

(I think avast had talked about creating a desktop link to safezone. I wonder if this shortcut was an unfinished bit of development that somehow escaped?)

Anyway, my advice would be to only access safezone through the avast gui - then you know it’s the real one.

Also, you could check if the reset safezone contents button is actually working and clearing all bookmarks etc from safezone? That was another bug I had.

If SafeZone browser icon appears on default Desktop, then it’s a bug – you can just delete it from your Desktop.

Thanks for responding mag and pk. I spoke to iyogi support, i was under the impression that this was the only real avast support aside from these forums. How would i get help or support from an avast expert on and away from these forums? And this did seem kind of buggy to me because when clicking on the icon, it opened up a browser but did not take me to the safezone environment which is kind of pointless. I will probably just delete it like pk said, but can you tell me why this happened in the first place? And even if i delete it, does this mean that there is some type of path created on my computer for this icon. I just want to make sure that if i do use the safezone environment to browse, that it will not be mirrored on my Win 7 UI because there is an icon/file path created somewhere in my system for the safezone program.
