SafeZone Browser Keeps crashing

Hello

Was having an issue with my Safe Zone browser, i typically have about 5 tabs that open automatically in my browser mostly banks. But this morning none of them are opening. I then get a crash notification asking me if i want to wait or kill pages.

What i have done so far.

  1. Tried to kill pages but nothing happens just stays there.

2)Tried tapping wait for them to respond waited about 20 minutes and then the box returns with the same options over and over.

  1. attempted to go to settings tools or anything that would let me get to disabling my tabs and give it a fresh start, but since everything is thru the browser it does not load those pages either.

If anyone has some suggestions

Thank you

You could try going into SafeZone Settings and “Reset” SafeZone. This will clear everything to default.
This has cleared issues for me in the past.

Like schmidthouse said.

If you are somehow stucked in SafeZone, and can not leave it, press “ctrl+alt+delete” at the same time.

Sorry just wondering how to get to safe zone settings?

Open Avast - Settings - Tools - SafeZone - Customise - Reset Safezone.

Ok Nvm i found it and activated the reset, now with a refreshed safe zone it gives me a new tab option only when i type any website in there it goes no where i feel like safe zone might not be connecting to the internet just a theory though.

Attempting to go to the settings option replicated the same error as the first post

Do you by any chance use MBAM Premium, or have activated the trial ?

Greetz, Red.

Malware bytes? yes I do, but i have always had malware bytes and avast and this is the first time i have had this issue.

I asked you specificly about MBAM Premium, so with realtime protection.
The reason is that SafeZone works fine with MBAM Free, but ( standard ) not with Premium.

Greetz, Red.

Yes I i have Premium but i have always had premium. So just wondering why this is happening now

Going to test that theory will be restarting my computer without MBAM premium.

Well, I don’t know why you didn’t have this problem untill now, but it is a known bug/issue.
Like I said there is no problem with MBAM Free, but when you activate the Premium licence SafeZone is usually toast after a few ( more than one ! ) Windows reboots.

I recently got a reaction/solution from MBAM Support :

Some antivirus applications require exclusions to be defined for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, so that they do not interfere with Malwarebytes operation and vice versa. These are typically referred to as exclusions or ignore list entries. The following is a list of Malwarebytes programs which should be placed on an Exclusion list if required. This list is specific to Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.

For 32-bit Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows XP:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For 64 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7 or Windows 8:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbam.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamdor.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbampt.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamservice.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\Malwarebytes Anti-Malware\mbamscheduler.exe

For specific steps on how to add these files to your antivirus’ exclusion list, you will need to contact your antivirus provider directly for best results.

Those exclusions should be added here : Avast! - Settings - Active Protection - File System Shield - Customise - Exclusions - Add.

But I have not personally test this yet though !!!

I have Currently restarted my computer with Malware bytes off and the issue persist. Now you say toast do you mean permanently it wont work? because i would assume with MBAM off completely safe zone should work again properly.

Try to repair Avast!

  1. Start - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - Avast! - Change.
  2. Repair.
  3. Follow the instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Greetz, Red.

Done the issue still persisted, looks like where heading towards a reinstall… sigh not a fan. Wish there was an easier fix.

I am sorry, but you are not the only “victim” of this bug/issue.
Many more in the past, including myself.

One advise : Do a clean reinstall !

Download the Avast! Uninstall Utility to your desktop.
Download the correct version of Avast!

Avast! Free
Avast! Pro
Avast! Internet Security
Avast! Premier

Disconnect from the internet.
Uninstall Avast! via control panel.

Run the Uninstall Utility and accept the reboot to safe mode.
Once complete reboot your system.
Reinstall Avast!

Ok thanks for the input ill do it when i have time.

Thinking about this again …

Maybe I am wrong, but I find he solution from MBAM Support a bit strange.
It looks to me that MBAM is the culprit, and not Avast!.

What about adding the SafeZone Browser as an exclusion to MBAM :

C:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\sfzone\SafeZoneBrowser.exe
C:\Program Files (x86)\AVAST Software\Avast\sfzone\SafeZoneBrowser.exe

Right now I have no time to test this though.

Here my original topic on the MBAM forum : https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/166120-mbam-premium-and-avast-safezone-conflict/#entry947811

MBAM Support gave me than the same answer.
