Did a clean instal of Avast Internet Security 2015.10.0.2206.
All seemed to instal okay.
As title suggests still problem with Safezone Browser, freezing computer after use. Have to do a hard restart.
Was hoping maybe a fix this update, will wait to see what happens in the future.
Avast developers are aware of this, but they can’t put a time frame when this may be fixed.
Apart from this I have no problems.
Used windows add and remove to uninstall.
Used Avast clear in Safe Mode to remove left overs.
Installed latest version Avast Internet Security 2015 10.0.2206
Vista Basic SP2
See signature., for other security programs
This is a problem they are aware off first sent ticket in march, last one in July.
Just thought i would post, just anyone else with a similar problem would know Avast is looking into this.
In a few days I may send another ticket to see if there is any developments.
Don’t send another ticket/change the current one or you will end up at the bottom of the stack.
That will extend the time before you will get a answer/reply.
If you’re using the paid version of MBAM, try disabling it if your using the latest version of MBAM.
I’ve found it to be a system hog and now use it strictly on demand.
SafeZone I’ve found can be touchy with other security programs installed I’ve found over the years.
Some months ago I had SafeZone issues and never did get it worked out on W8 (at that time). I found it unreliable.
Having said that, if nothing else resolves the issue and you have not tried this, (And you have the time) then personally I would uninstall both MBam and Spyware Blaster and see what results.
Also RESET SafeZone after this process reboot.
Thanks bob3160 and schmidthouse, very much appreciated.
I have tried just Avast internet security, with out any other security program installed. Also tried Reset of safezone, still no luck.
I don’t think this problem will have to be fixed by Avast Programers.
This is the reply I received from avast via a ticket.
It seems that you and other users are experiencing some conflicts with avast! SafeZone in the latest build. We will escalate this issue to our Quality Assurance team so they can handle it with our developers. Unfortunately I’m not sure how long this process may take because analysis of this feature is difficult. We understand that avast! SafeZone is an important feature for our customers, so meanwhile we can recommend you to use avast! Sandbox as an alternative to SafeZone. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Once again thanks for the assistance I have received :).
Unfortunate.
“Important feature for our customers” I think is an understatement.
The response is certainly bang on in that “analysis of this feature is difficult” as there have been many posts over the months/year of users with issues making the feature unreliable.
They are still at it.
Very unfortunate there hasn’t been “Intensive” dev research into making this feature reliable.
I hope they get it nailed down.
