SAFEZONE: hang when attempt to print, unable to kill process

OS : Windows 7 64bit Home Premium build 7601

Yet another safezone issue - as copy to clipboard is not working, and I can’t take screenshots, I thought I would try going old skool and printing off the temp info I need before popping back to normal windows

so I tried to print using the menus and clicked on “printer properties” in the print dialog. from that point on safezone went completely unresponsive

I tried closing the dialog, using right click on the bottom left safezone icon, and hitting “close all”

the only way to return to normal windows was to hit ctrl-alt-del and then I went into the process list and tried to kill from there - but of course access is denied…SIGH! I guess I will just have to restart

now PLEASE Avast do not come back and suggest resetting the safezone, uninstalling/reinstalling as a first option here. I would like to see some intelligent troubleshooting, that perhaps starts at me sending you some logs or other info that will help you diagnose the actual issue. On too many occasions you have not seemed interested in diagnosing and fixing the actual issues, rather suggesting the infamous “trun it off and on again”

I want you to restore my faith in you (and I think other people feel the same about the way Avast has gone recently) and I’m willing to do everything on my part to give you the information you need

Oh yes and as a side note - I still have an issue with safezone messing with my resolution on return to normal windows and while I can accept that if safezone does what it’s supposed to and allows me to bank/shop safely without all these issues, now that’s just the straw that’s breaking the camel’s back

well - no response on here, so I have submitted a ticket to Avast. let’s see what they have to say…

I have so many issues with safezone I can’t understand why there are not more safezone issues listed here. I think I will start a thread called SafeZone Windows 7 issues and encourage people to add their Windows 7 issues to it, since there isn’t a formal bug tracking system for users

well I have had a response from Avast basically it suggests

  1. use add/remove programs to “repair” Avast installation

  2. a complete uninstall/reinstall

  3. clean cookies and temporary internet files

it does seem to be a generic solution they have for every problem - I would have thought they would want to isolate the issue and fix it

Anyhow I will do as they ask, but not until after my exams next week, and see if all these safezone issues are still there…
