SafeZone Suddenly Won't Open

After a reboot, I tried to open the SafeZone Web Browser and received the following error message:

Can’t open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges.
You might want to contact the administrator of this machine.

I am the administrator of this machine, and no privileges settings have been changed (not on purpose, at least). How do I fix this? Thanks!

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

I just tried this, but I still get the same error message.

Hi, is your W10 up to date…!? (Version 1607)

Yes, that update was successfully installed on December 15th.

OK, let’s try a clean reinstall…

  1. Download Avast Premier Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

It looks like that worked, but now I’ve lost all of my bookmarks.

You can reimport the bookmarks: https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB209#idt_270

In case it happens again, please do not run SZB under administrator (I mean UAC elevation)… Start the browser normally using icon on the desktop…

Also make sure you do not start the SZB from app which is running under admin.
