I managed to get this infection a few days ago and it sounds about the same as the rest. Every 10 mins avast tells me 2 things have been blocked.
I’ll attach the logs as soon as someone tells me how to attach something… I don’t see where to do it?

[*]Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
[*]Accept the disclaimer and allow to update if it asks

Notes:

Could you let me know how the computer is behaving on completion

  2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

I ran that and it rebooted automatically and when it started back up i got the little blue combofix window and it says “Please wait.” but there is an error window (swreg.3XE - Application error) open that says “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.”

I rebooted manually and it started up fine however i still got an error window, this time it was WSHelper.exe and cdloader2.exe.

I don’t see a combofix.txt log file anywhere

Could you run a fresh FRST scan for me please

While running the FRST scan I got another error msg this time it was mod_frst.exe application error…

i get an application error when i try to run combofix

i get an error when i try to open most programs… i am stuck here… i appreciate all your help cause i don’t know what i would do otherwise but i don’t know what to do now and i do use this computer for work… what should i do next?

Best advice one of us can give you is to back up all your personal and work files now to some sort of media, such as an usb flash stick and at least one other backup media, such as an external usb drive. It is not a backup if you only have one copy (a single backup copy) and that one disappears or becomes unavailable for some reason.

At worst, it will give you something to do whilst we work with you and come up with a fix. At best, if a factory restore is what is needed, then you are ready to proceed, having two copies or more of all your files OR if a fix is successful, you need not worry about your files since you now routinely back them up in multiple places and are prepared for disaster, if and when it happens.

That’s a depressing thought… i hope it doesn’t come to that but i guess i will start backing up… is there anything else I can do to try to fix this?
