same threat popup keeps appearing on my screen every five minutes

Your system in Avast One in windows keeps popping up with the same message about the same threat which it states Avast one has protected me from it.

my question is why does the same message keep popping up every 5 minutes or so. if you system states it protected me from the threat?

I couldn’t copy screen message but i have written down everything it says:

THREAT SECURED

we have safely aborted connection on ytbblocked.com because it was infected with URL: Blacklist

THREAT NAME URL:BLACKLIST
URL https://ytbblocked.com/api/config/
PROCESS C:PROGRAM FILES\GOOGLE\CHROME\APPLICATION\chrome.exe
DETECTED BY WEB SHIELD
STATUS CONNECTION ABORTED
d870dfca6ad5/2023-07-25T19:29.273Z

thats all what the screen shows i couldn’t get a copy of screen.

Attaching a screenshot of the Avast alert window with the Details option selected would help. Preview your post and you will see that option.

For most viewing here the unique id code is pretty meaningless. That said if this is a vulnerable driver, Avast wouldn’t be the only one involved in this as Microsoft also flags vulnerable drivers. There are a few topics on vulnerable drivers.

First try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies, then close Chrome and then restart it.

What are you doing when this happens ?

Primero intente borrar el caché y las cookies de su navegador, luego cierre Chrome y luego reinícielo.

¿Qué estás haciendo cuando esto sucede?

i have done that and also uninstalled avast one and then reinstalled avast one and I still get the same problem. I have been using avast one free copy for at least a year with no problems until now.

thanks for your reply

Uninstalling and reinstalling Avast One won’t really get over this problem as the Web Shield will still be using the current data information to block suspect sites.

I have Chrome only as a means of checking stuff I don’t really like it, preferring to use Firefox.

So given you say you have cleared cookies, cache and restarted Chrome with no effect. It could well be a browser extension, try running Chrome with add-ons/extensions disabled and see if that works. and report back.

If it does then it is going to be a bit painful trying to track down which is the problem, start with the one most recently added or updated.

Of course you could try a clean reinstall but that could be more pain losing settings, etc.

thanks for the info will update you once a follow thru on your solutions.

You’re welcome.

Time for some sleep, almost 2:15am here.

it worked!!!

the extension that was causing the problem appears to be ADBLOCK FOR YOUTUBE,

I removed it and pop up message has stopped.

we finally got there!

thanks for your help

You’re welcome.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Strangely enough I also use Adblock for Youtube™ - Author Adblock Systems
I don’t know if it is the same one, I also use YouTube a lot also and haven’t had this issue.
