Samsung Smartswitch threat blocked

Just downloaded Samsung Smartswitch setup file (SmartSwitchPC_setup.exe) from Samsung.
Behaviour shield seems to think there is something worth warning.
Chose to put in virus chest to investigate, but nothing there.
I have since downloaded (again) and installed Smartshield without further incident.
I assume behaviour shield oversensitive and gave a generic warning, but can anyone explain as setup.exe is not the file I downloaded.

Whilst it isn’t the file you downloaded, but the SmartSwitchPC_setup.exe file (which you did) when run may have extracted the setup.exe to a temporary location to do the installation setup.

I would imaging the setup.exe file in a temp location may have been suspicious triggering the IDP (Intrusion Detection Process) Generic detection.

Whilst I can’t be sure of this, there is a possibility that this file was uploaded for further analysis using the CyberCapture function. After analysis it wasn’t considered harmful/infected.

@DavidR, Thanks for your reply.
Just in case, I ran a full scan last night (4hrs on that Win10 machine), which reported zero issues when I checked history this morning.
So will leave it at that.

You’re welcome, but WOW 4 hours, that’s massive.

You must have a huge amount of data on that system ?
If so I would consider an external hard drive (they aren’t that expensive) and transferring non-essential data to that. It will give you more space on your system (may also improve performance), speed up scan duration and could also protect those files from attack, ransomware, etc. (provided you keep it disconnected when not required).

SSD.

SSD would certainly make a difference to scan time for your system drive, I’ve two drives for my laptop (256GB SSD, 1TB HDD). But if your system didn’t come with an SSD primary drive it would be more hassle replacing an existing HDD drive.

But an external drive less so but price has to be a big factor for an external SSD or at least 1TB (if you have a lot to move), so an HDD external drive would be much cheaper and you wouldn’t need to scan it often if at all.

I only do a Full Scan infrequently so is not a problem. Rest assured, I back up my HDD regularly on external drive/s.

Only when you least expect it.

Yep, plan for the worst and hope for the best
