Sanbox in Free Version

I just updated to Avast 6 free version and noticed that the sandbox comes with it as well although in your advertising it says it is only in the Pro version.
Is this just an error in the advertising or will it be removed?

It is a limited sandbox, that is only based on rules etc. as to whether something should be sandboxed or not.
In the free version there is not a selective sandbox option, that is reserved for the paid versions.

Thank You

Welcome to the forum!

The sandbox in the PRO is a “better” one than in the FREE with more components.
In the FREE you get just a “basic” one, but I think, this is better than nothing…

Edit:

Ooops, Scott was faster…

You’re welcome

I found away to get Internet Explorer Sandboxed in The Free version of Avast! ;D i have a program on my flash drive that opens IE and IE opens in the sandbox. Is that normal?

Yeah, I have one that will induce a sandbox alert that then can open IE…I imagine it follows the idea that if something that is sandboxed executes something, then what it runs will also be in the sandbox.

how can i switch off "ratings websites" from my avast ??? i dont want this option on my avast 6.0, pls help ::slight_smile:

Hi dreaming, welcome to the forum

This should really be in a topic of it’s own, but…

Open avast → Additional Protection’ tab → ‘Webrep’ tab → Click ‘uninstall’ on the browsers you have it installed in.

EDIT: If you want it permantly uninstalled, you can also do it through programs and features:

Control Panel → uninstall a program → avast → choose change → un check the webrep option.

Scott

ouuu, sorry, but i didn`t know where to post my question…thank you, thank you, thank you, Scott!
