I was messing around with avast’s sandbox. In the Web browsers option in sandbox settings I check “Save trusted downloaded files outside the sandbox.” Next I go on to disable 2 of my addons in firefox while in sandbox. Then I open firefox outside of sandbox and these changes are present. When I disable “Save trusted downloaded files outside the sandbox,” I disable 2 addons while in sandbox and changes do not carry over outside of sandbox. Its only this option that changes things.?
My question, would checking this option be less safe (excluding the possibility that I unknowningly download something bad as save onto computer)?
Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump Bump . What I am saying is the option ticked allows for modifications of the browser to exist outside of sandbox. That being said, while I go on the web in sandbox, does that option have any impact on sandbox effectiveness on keeping the bad out?
Bump.
It took me so long to reply, because your avatar is so disturbing :). What do you mean by “and changes do not carry over outside of sandbox”? If the option is enabled, we detect how your downloaded file is saved (by user, or by unknown path in the browser?). If it’s saved by user, we exclude the downloaded file from the sandboxing and it’s saved to disk. If the option is disabled, all saved files are virtualized.
Can these virtualized files be recovered, ans saved to hard drive?
