Hi everyone!
I’m writing with an interest to Sandbox technology in Avast 6 IS. I was testing some malware samples (including rogues, spyes) by launching them in a Sandbox. And i was really suprised when the system after reboot was absolutely clean. Is there any info how this technology works in Avast? Does it delete the files created in it after reboot? I’m really excited about it…
Thanks for your response.
Nope, they do not get deleted. You need to do it yourself. See screenshot below.

Does it delete the files created in it after reboot? I'm really excited about it..It's deleted when the virtualized process terminates itself -- however, there's an exception for web browsers (see pic above); sandbox for web browsers can be deleted manually (in next avast version, you'll be able to schedule sandbox cleanup for web browsers).
Well I have a doubt about sandbox workin’.I red in Avast log that:
“Autosandbox candidate: C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\winampa.exe
[Source: ]
[Opened by: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\runonce.exe]
→ Result: Not sandboxing (based on user’s decision).”
I was never asked about this, and took not any decison(I`m alone user)
My PC:Windows 7/64,with Avast Internet Security 6.0 1203
I’m having some problems with Avast pro Sandbox. Is it better than Sandboxie. I tried to open Google browser in Avast Sandbox by right clicking on it. Had an error pop-up from sandboxie, then nothing. If I go further and right-click always open this program sandboxed (Avast sandbox), I get the same pop-up message error from sandboxie, but it proceeds and I finally get my Google sandboxed. Also, there are improvements to be done on the auto-delete function, if any! ;D
You can test it yourself calling back history in your Google browser. There is nothing else to do to clear your browsing data than going manually clearing it through your browser. When I click delete sandbox in Avast, it tells me 0 MB but still it keeps the browsing datas in the browser. Something wrong???
+1 8)
Very instructive and serious although I have problems cos used to surf with Sandboxie where all and everything is sandboxed, then deleted. I feel more secure that way 8).
Don’t know if Avast Sandbox is equal or superior to Tzuk Sandboxie’s. ???
Sorry if I I insist, but it seems to me Avast’s Sandbox is a bit “less obstructive” than Sandboxie and then may be more user friendly to most internet users that want to keep their bookmarks and history while always browsing “Sandboxed”. If it’s the case, keeping two Sandbox programs on this pc is not useful. I guess I’ll have to take out Sandboxie then! ;D
