Sandboxed Browsers: Extensions Don't Work--Solutions?

I have Avast AIS and keep trying the Sandbox before giving up and returning to Online Armor’s “Run Safer” (drop my rights feature).

Here is my problem: PDF plugin didn’t work until I excluded the temp file where PDFs are located but doesn’t that defeat the purpose of a sandboxed browser? I can save outside PDF outside the browser and read but it is not very user friendly.

Other extension problems:

Downthemall: greyed out when downloading. Any solutions?

Deskcut: nothing happens. In fact, I can’t even drag the URL icon to the desktop in either Firefox or Chrome.

Other extensions, similar problems. Is the solution to exclude all the folders that extensions need? If so, what would those be? (Yes, I did check to let Extensions work in Sandbox, a box turned off by default).

I really can’t see using the Sandbox on a regular basis and getting work done quickly. If anyone has workarounds, that would be great! Otherwise, I’m back to OA “Run Safer” and its annoying HIPs.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience.
What’s the name of your PDF plugin? (and which browser+version do you use it with?)

I’ll test your extensions and let you know.

PDF-Xchange Viewer plugin with Firefox 4. Gives an error that it can’t access a temp file in my UserData\Local subfolder. So I excluded that folder and it worked but it is a dangerous work-around.

Downthemall 2.0 (a must-have add-on but no error message from Avast so I don’t know where to exclude). Go here and try to download all the PDFs while sandboxed, it won’t work
