I’m new to sandboxie.http://www.google.ca/search?hl=fr&q=sandboxie&btnG=Recherche+Google&meta=
I found it as a good alternative to HauteSecure, unless you want to use Unbutu Linux and have enough disk space for it
This program is fantastic,I’ve been using it for a few months now,and I would not be without it.Its free, although there is a paid version, that allows a few more features. The creator Ronan Tzuk is fanatical about his program, and will go out of his way to cure any bugs etc, that crop up.
Its very easy to use,but has immense possibilities,if you are technically minded.( i’m not)
With the paid version, you can open multiple boxes and force programs to be run sandboxed.I set my default box to auto delete when its closed, although you will be alerted,if there is anything in the box that can be recovered. You can run certain programs in the box, before allowing them onto your real system. You can block access to sensitive data, from any program running in the box,you can allow only certain boxed programs to access the internet,so for instance,if you downloaded a info stealing keylogger, one, it couldn’t access certain info, and two,it would not be allowed to access the internet. If for instance the only boxed program allowed access to the net was firefox.exe.and you downloaded a trojan which named itself firefox.exe.it still would be denied, because it was downloaded after the session started ( I hope that makes sense ).
There is another option,to allow bookmaring, while sandboxed. I surf without worry,i go anywhere i want, opening email attatchments etc is not a worry, although i have 2 computers, one is for anything, the other is for banking, shopping etc.
No program is foolproof, especially as it becomes more popular, but this program is another layer of defense,i think the days of relying purely on an AV are over.
I’ve heard Returnil works well with Sandboxie,I will be checking that out shortly.
EDIT:
One more thing I remembered,if you want to scan anything in the box, open ‘my computer’,Local Disk C,and right click on sandbox ‘scan with AV’,.You must scan the box " un sandboxed"
I prefer Returnil and GesWall free. I use both programs.
I used Sandboxie and i didn’t like it(not my cup of tea).
Like HauteSecure did, it slows considerably my computer and web surfing experience. It also interferes with Malwarebytes or asquared anti-malware so I’m forced to scan thorough in SAFE mode. I don’t know if it’s interfering with AVAST, especially the webscanning.
How can Sandboxie be interfering with these programs.Maybe you have other issues. You can always try the Sandboxie forum.I have absolutely no problems with Sandboxie. If you don’t like it why ask for feedback, just remove it.
Well, that’s weird! It seems to be specifically bounded to these programs. My sandboxed programs take about 3-4 minutes to start-up. About Avast, I think it should be able to access the sandbox but malware can’t access your disks. ???
What programs are you running sandboxed
FF3. Whenever sandboxed, it takes 3-3-3 minutes to start-up. Unsandboxed, everything fine. I guess you have to make little sacrifices for the security cause. :
Thats definately not normal,I have heard lots of people complain about 25 seconds, but not 3 minutes
Thanks for letting me know. In fact, may be I have too much resident antispywares on (SB, ST, a-square2, WD0 plus Defense + of Comodo3 Firewall. Looks like I would have to make a choice to trim in it a bit. Anyway, I wait normally 2 minutes and I hope I can surf secure thereafter. I’m going to try to post this thread link in their forum for improvement.
