Can someone tell me about the SBS2008 exchange 2007 plug-in, it seems very limited in terms of options over say the 2003 version which also had a SMTP2000 plug-in. Does the Exchange 2007 plug-in work as efficiently as the Exchange/SMTP '03 plugins?
Sorry to ask such a ‘simple’ question but I want to make sure my customers exchange server is well protected, also, does the plug-in scan at the transport level or mailbox only, I have ticked the ‘scan at transport level’ but have no notification that it actually is scanning at the transport level.
i cant really answer your questions but:
when you go to the exchange 2007 options in the ON-ACCESS tasks then you will see this at the scanning option:
please set the basic parameters for this provider. please note that it is ONLY capable of scaning the messsages (on-access and in the background) on IS level. For transport scanning, please use the provider called "MS SMTP 2000/2003"
IS = Information Store (the mailboxes)
next to that the option that u check for on, has (Exchange 2003 only) behind the name so its only for exchange 2003…
I may be getting this wrong but, according to your reply the Exchange 2007 provider only scans mailboxes, fine, I have no problem with that however, the MS SMTP 2000/2003 provider only covers as said exchange 2000/2003 and if I run that to try and scan at transport level on Exchange 2007 it just says waiting for subsystem to start.
Surley Avast must have a way to scan mail at the transport level on Exchange 2007
