Can I get opinions on the option ‘Scan libraries (DLL’s)when loading’? I would classify myself as a technically savvy, ‘safe’ user of the web. I.E. I’m technically experienced, I don’t download ‘dodgy’ applications, and I run all the other real-time shields anyway. I’m tempted to uncheck the above option to maximise application loading times. Views on this…??
Any gain you are likely to make and I don’t believe it would be that noticeable will be overridden (IMHO) by the ‘potential’ risk.
You on;y have to browse the viruses and worms forum to see you don’t have to be downloading dodgy applications to be at risk.
Surely your system isn’t so under resourced that you would consider this, but then again you don’t post any profile signature.
I would say look at your applications that start on boot and do some serious house cleaning, only loading essential applications. As you are probably aware almost every program wants to start on boot, when for the most part they aren’t needed, media players being a particular example.
The avast persistent cache should also help with signed dlls from trusted sources as they shouldn’t actually be scanned after first having been scanned, found clean and added to the persistent cache.
