Scan error - apparently?

Hi,

I did a full scan recently and the report says it was unable to find certain files within Avast, as per attached screenshot. I don’t understand how this can be or if it is significant.
I have Avast set to do daily Quick Scans and this recently found apparent threats in two files a few days before. Scanning these a few days later in the Chest finds no viruses so maybe false. Not sure if connected or not.

Thanks

This location is for an old version of the virus definitions (3 days old), avast does its house keeping at some point after you have had a new update; so it happens to have done this during your scan.

It isn’t a false positive, it isn’t suspicious or infected, avast is just reporting a file that it can’t scan and giving the reason why.

There is nothing to worry about or do.

My Avast! does this sometimes with the DLL files as well. It’s nothing to worry about. Usually if you scan immediately afterward there is no problem accessing them. I never knew it was because of “housekeeping” behind the scenes to manage the definitions. That’s pretty cool that’s why :P. Learn something new everyday!

OK that’s fine - many thanks  for the explanation. I didn’t think it was serious but nice to know the reason. I really like this new version over 4.8.

You’re welcome.

Yes I like it too much better than 4.8, what I can’t understand is that 7 months after launch some people are still clinging on to 4.8 when they have an OS that is supported.

Me neither - now.
I clung to 4.8 for a bit when seeing here that some people had problems upgrading. But with support from you good people before embarking on the upgrade there was little problem, save for a bit of a glitch with Spybot afterwards.

That’s the problem with support forums, only those with a problem come calling, with very few coming to say everything went fine ;D
