scan error not logged

Hi,
I have just downloaded and installed avast and run a full scan. During the scan there was an error: file cannot be moved to chest because of the disk is full.
After boot I cannot find this message, I do not know which file was it at all.

Do you know how can I find that file?
Thanks

Where have you looked for the file name ?

The most likely cause isn’t that the disk is full, but that the file size exceeds the maximum file size to be sent, these settings can be changed. From the avastUI, Settings, Virus Chest, you can change the default settings. See image example of my modified settings.

You could try running the scan again if you can’t file the file name.

thanks, the idea is good.
It was a boot time scan and avast displayed that message on that blue screen (XP boot console). The full scan takes 5-6 hours, it would be better to not repeat it, if possible…

The boot-time report can be found here, C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Alwil Software\Avast5\report\aswBoot.txt (winXP location). Or C:\ProgramData\Alwil Software\Avast5\Report folder (windows Vista, windows 7).

I see.
A boot-time scan result also available using the gui. But it is not the same. ???

Yes, it is different, as it is converting the content of the text file I gave into a more GUI friendly format. From the GUI format, you can’t copy and paste if that is something that you need.

For the above reasons, that is generally why I give the location of the source file. If your scan went OK and you are just curious then the information in the UI is fine. But there is also a throw back with this display for some scan results, it also shows the Apply button and some users are confused as they try to click this button and it is inactive.

Oh no,
I do not mean the look and the extended possibilities - like additional actions -, I mean the content is not the same and it can be confusing.

The gui is nice, really nice, but I was misguided by that window. I do not know the ideal solution, maybe a filter and better help…

I have been searching for months to get an answer. When I do a boot scan
I get disk full message. When I run a normal scan no problems.

I tried turning off restore still no luck. At the moment I when I run a scan
I am clean. Malwarebytes and AntiSpyware are not saying I have a problem.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Ken

This is a relatively old topic and it may have been better creating a new one as your program version is likely to be different. It is also different as yours is related to the boot-time scan.

What version of avast are you using free/pro/ais and the build number, e.g. avast free 6.0.1000 (the latest version) ?

Your error may not be directly related to this topic as the original poster had this during a boot-time scan when avast had detected something and was trying to send it to the chest. So did you get this error after a detection and trying to send the file to the chest ?

If so the avast version you are using is important as the sizes (referred to in my Reply #1 and image) for the chest and file size are greater in the avast 6.0.1000 version.
