Scan file causes Windows Explorer to hang (Not responding)

I have Avast Premium Security. When I try to scan pdf’s or image files Windows Explorer hangs (Not Responding). Killing the explorer process in Task Manager gets explorer working again, but Avast is not in the System Tray and I am unable to launch Avast from the Windows Start menu.

Not sure if this is a bug or if my system is compromised. Will post back with an update after troubleshooting this some more.

After rebooting my system… I have the latest version of Avast Premium. My system is NOT compromised. I am able to scan any type of file without the problem reoccurring… unless I have Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 open and a known problem occurs that I have been dealing with for months. Adobe CS5.5 causes problems for Windows 10 explorer.exe. Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 is no longer supported.

This is not an Avast issue. This is a known bug in Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 that breaks Windows 10 explorer.exe, which in turn breaks Avast.

For anyone else who runs into this problem. Set all Dreamweaver shortcuts and exe’s to Run as Administrator by right mouse clicking on either a shortcut or exe > click the Compatibility tab > select Run this program as an Administrator. Unfortunately, every time you open a file you will see the Windows 10 UAC popup window, but things will not break. Lessor of 2 evils.

Disregard - changing the Dreamweaver combability mode did not work. The problem returned. Looking into other possible solutions.
