Scan files on storage card

Hello I am trying avast! 4 for PDA 4.1.19 and I do not exactly what is the meaning of “Scan files on storage card”. I tick off this item, then I select “Scan”, and I observ that the files of the inserted microSD are being scanned. The scanning is the same for this ithem ticked on.
Other question is about the resident. Is there a resident in the program? Can activate/deactivate them?

Why don’t you want to scan the files into the storage card?
As far I know, the program is resident by default.
