I used to be able to scan something I had downloaded, a file, movie, document, and when I would right click I could choose scan the file and the little popup would appear and tell me what percentage complete and then tell me if it was safe or not.
Now however, although I can still right click and scan, the popup doesn’t appear and I have to open the avast interface and click on the notifications bell on top to see if the scan completed and if everything was okay.
Not sure what changed, but is there a way to get the popup to come back so I don’t have to open the interface?
Preventing malware from entering a system, is to me, more effective in prevention than scanning all files after the fact, as one would via explorer scans.
I’m also been having this problem for the past 1-2 days now.
Every file/folder I right click > scan (with Avast) and there’s no more popup window saying it’s scanning. If I restart my computer the first file/folder I scan will have a popup, but after that - nothing. Can also confirm that if I actually open Avast the scans will be there in notifications.
My silent mode is also unchecked. I’ve done full scans of my computer with both Avast and Malwarebytes and it’s clean. I’ve tried reinstalling Avast (online installer) over my current installation, still no scan popups other than first one when restarting. Might try a full clean install of Avast and see if that fixes it…
Anyhow, don’t know if it’s a bug or intentional, but would really like to have the scanning popup back too.
Well it does have a popup displayed at the bottom right of the screen, but it isn’t displayed until the scan is complete. If you click the Details it opens the main UI and you will also see it in the notification area of the UI to get information on the scan.
This had been working since this 16 month old topic, but the issue appears to have returned after a recent program update. It isn’t showing a progress or completion window, but it runs and will create an entry in the Scan Results section.
