what is option called Scan: interactive selection?what is is exactly for?
It’s not an “option” - it’s one of the default tasks. It’s rather simple - when you start it, it asks you what area to scan and after you enter it, it scans the area 
The archives are not enabled in the default task, if I remember correctly. Of course, you can create a copy of this task and change the settings as you wish.
