I am beset by conundrums in Avast V.5.

On the page entitled Scan Now, there are six icons arranged vertically, all including a magnifying glass, and they do not react to a left- or a right-click. What am I missing here? And why am I missing so much? ???

What are you clicking as the icons themselves are just that inert icons ?

To the right of each section there is a Start button and a More details option to expand the info and a Settings button for that particular scan, see image, do you see that ?

No, David, all I have on the white screen the same as your image is the six icons. No words, no start buttons, nothing. I surely must need some settings seen to?

Good (well not for you), that is what I suspected and why I posted the image.

So the other sections have data in them then ?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

This is following on from your other thread as well…

Another point, have you rebooted since the install, as that is a common cause of the missing info here at least.

Thanks a million, Scott. Well done. Yes I had re-booted but just now I did the suggested repair procedure, then re-booted, and bingo. Everything in order. I must say I appreciate the clarity of your plain English.
