is there a way to set the AV so it only alerts when a bad file is RUN? (as in, double-click for exe files)
I know nod32 has that option
and avast has it too but its horribly buggy
(I’m testing with different bad test files, and avast pops an alert everytime I just RIGHT-CLICK a bad file! and sometimes even when I OPEN A FOLDER with a bad file in it! even tho I disable ‘scan when open’. this slows down my pc a lot :-\
is there a way to make the on-execution only work?
if this was Kaspersky or something then maybe (cause that one’s a resource hog that’s why I avoid it) but Avast is suppose to be light on resources ???
did you even read the 1st post? its IMPOSSIBLE to set file shield to “scan on execution” only
avast does not need 1GB RAM but depending what else is running on your machine your processor may get bogged down.
For the best security the file shield scans when opening, writing and execution. The final decision as to how much or, how little
security you need is ultimately yours and yours alone. You can pare down avast to a point that it becomes useless. But if that’s
what you want go for it. If I were you I’d invest in more RAM.
