As far as I can tell, with the 4.8 version, it doesn’t say anything unless a virus is detected.
I always wanted it to tell me if it was clean or not, but I guess it’s fine the way that it is.
Basically, if Avast found a virus, you’d know about it. I haven’t played around with the new version enough to know, but it might tell you if a file is clean or not. Others might be able to clean this up for us as well (people that have tried the betas).
If you are using 4.8, go to program settings>common and tick “show results of explorer extension”.
Should do the job.
thanks tarq57
but how do i get there
please help
Right click the Avast tray icon (the blue ball in the lower right of the screen) and select “program settings”.
Put a tick in the second bottom box, as I have (see the picture below)
Click “OK”.
Test it by right clicking a small file somewhere and select “[avast symbol] scan [file name]”, the scan should take a second or two, and then you’ll be notified in a mini-report “number of infected files =0” (hopefully.)
Thanks Tarq57 for helping out a not so computer intelligent Irishman ; your solution worked perfectly
happy christmas
