I have just had my first scare…“virus detected” etc. >:(
Some of the results mentioned “Unable to scan: Archive is
password protected”…what do I do with this please?
I think you will find that these are spybot or adaware quarantine files. As they are password protected Avast can not scan them. But if it is opened then Avast will bark. Could you give some examples file names and paths.

This means, that the archive (like a .zip or .rar file) is scanned but the content of this archive could not be scanned because it is protected by a password. For scanning the content this archive must be unpacked before by using the neccessary password.
